Participants will learn to utilize therapeutic frameworks such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, and Mindfulness to guide clients through life transitions, loss and grief in a structured and supportive way.

Participants will be equipped to identify and apply ethical principles and professional boundaries to fit the unique cultural, developmental, and personal needs of clients. While also supporting clients through loss, grief and major life transitions, with particular attention to cultural sensitivity, scope of practice, and the therapist’s own emotional responses.

Participants will empower clients in creating personalized coping plans that strengthen their ability to navigate future life transitions and losses that promote healing and enhance long-term resilience.

Hosted BY BLISS Counseling & Consulting

Facilitator: Whitney Shelton

With over a decade of experience in the human services field, I have dedicated my career to supporting clients through the complexities of grief, particularly those who are elderly or have intellectual disabilities. Since 2011, I have worked closely with individuals navigating end-of-life issues, offering compassionate care and guidance during challenging transitions.

Since 2018, I have expanded my focus to work with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds, addressing a wide range of losses, including the death of loved ones, job loss, relationship breakdowns, and grief stemming from illness, natural disasters, or other unexpected circumstances. My approach is always tailored to the unique experiences and needs of each individual, fostering a space for healing and emotional expression.

In addition to hands-on experience, I have participated in numerous workshops on grief, equipping myself with evidence-based strategies and tools to better support clients. I am currently working towards certification in grief counseling to deepen my expertise and enhance my ability to guide clients through their emotional journeys.
